Marathon Girl

So, one day I really want to be a marathon girl! But, for now, even the thought of running 5 miles continuously sounds hard. I've been back running about 6-9 miles per week (2.5-3 miles each run) for about 2 mos. now, and it's not easy. I suppose that's the way it goes...I'll keep running, though, until my knees give out or my half-borrowed, half-stolen iPod refuses to hold a charge.

Music update: I'm completely excited to be going to see Glenn Tilbrook next week (see earlier post)...this will be the 3rd time I've seen him, and he never disappoints. My new favorite song on constant play at my house is: "Que Sera Sera" by Sly & the family Stone.

I really want to be a marathon girl. But not enough to actually train for it I don't think. I wonder if I can be an honorary marathon runner? Maybe I can get motivated by next year. But not for the whole. A half would do just nicely.

Amanda, good to see you here! I saw on your blog where you ran the 1/2 marathon...okay, I'm in for next year! Who else is with me?

the next fun 5K (july 4th)I like is the Firecracker 5K that goes throught Maryland farms. Last year, the shirts were white coolmax. I guess the race directors had to redeem themselves after 2003's hideous blue tye-dye rag.

Darn...I will be out of town on July 4th. What about other ones, Amanda, the guru of races?

the guru of races carefully selects hers b/c they're so stinking expensive to just jog and i don't sprint. my faves are mule day kick 5K, firecracker, franklin classic 5K/10K, and the 5 mile Boulevard Bolt on Thanksgiving Day (which is becoming tradition for mom and me). the Striders site has a race calendar and a very entertaining message board with a wide range of topics, though i think it's down for awhile b/c it got a little offensive about a month ago. some folks should lighten up!

Thanks for taking the time to put this site up. I've bookmarked it and will be back to spend some more time here.
